Cataract Surgery Options Explained

STANDARD CATARACT SURGERY

Your cataract is removed and an intraocular lens in implanted with traditional methods. Your surgeon uses manual surgical instruments making small incisions in the eye with a tiny blade. Although nearsightedness and farsightedness can be partially corrected, no astigmatism correction or refinement of the intraocular lens is made. Your vision with glasses will be much clearer once the cataract is removed. This procedure is considered medically necessary and will likely be at least partially covered by your medical insurance.

Standard cataract surgery may be enhanced using the ORA optimization scan during surgery. The ORA system provides your surgeon with precise real time measurements during surgery to determine the best intraocular lens implant.
