The iLASIK Procedure

LASIK stands for Laser-Assisted In-situ Keratomileusis. LASIK is a procedure in a family of surgical procedures called laser vision correction. iLASIK is a completely blade-free LASIK procedure that utilizes a femtosecond laser and a fully customized wavefront-guided correction of your vision with an excimer laser. We believe that iLASIK is safest and most precise way to preform LASIK.

Step 1

The process begins during your pre-exam with the iDesign Refractive Studio. iDesign is the first and only topo-integrated, wavefront guided technology used to create a personalized treatment plan. This important step allows us to map your eyes from the inside out for truly customized correction. Please stop wearing contact lenses 2 weeks prior to this exam.

Step 2

While you relax on the treatment bed, your eyelids are gently held open with a soft silicone ring. You will be asked to focus on a special fixation light in a microscope. In a few seconds, the iFS Laser will create a thin membrane of 100 microns to save the most critical top layer of the cornea.

Step 3

After the flap has been created, the excimer laser is used to reshape the cornea. The excimer laser performs customized ablation based on the data provided by the iDesign Refractive studio. The precise reshaping of your cornea takes approximately 30 seconds or less for most patients.

Can I Use My HSA or FSA?

YES! Your health savings account or flexible spending account can be used to pay for LASIK. This can be a great payment option because the money available in your HSA or FSA are pre-tax dollars. This means that you can save even more than with financing or paying out-of-pocket.
